Taking out my gastrostomy button

*DO NOT WATCH THE VIDEO ATTACHED IF YOUR SQUEAMISH

For the last 12 years of my life I have had a gastronomy tube in my stomach because I've been so unwell and underweight I had to rely on using a tube feed every night to help me stay healthy, alive and well.

A few days ago; after three (ish) months of not having to use it because I've managed to keep my weight up and stay healthy while fighting various chest infections, I have had this removed and it's the biggest thing that's happened to me and I feel like crying *out of happiness* like this has been something I've been so self conscious of for these 12 years and it is literally a relief like I feel normal just like anyone else.
It's been one of those things that always took a toll on how I felt what I wear and what I did it was such a horrible thing for me, however when my mum was asked to make a decision to have me have a tube put in at the mere age of 6 which no parent wants to make for their child, I'm so glad she chose the right one, because I would be far from well if she hadn't. But now I just have to think and I can even say I'M OKAY.
